Definition: mineral exploration drilling
Mineral exploration drilling means boring holes into rock to bring samples to surface and measure metal grades below ground. Reverse circulation drilling returns crushed rock chips and is generally faster; diamond core drilling returns solid rock cylinders that show structure and texture. Each sampled interval is assayed, and results are reported as grade over length, such as 1.8 g/t Au over 162 meters. At Basin Gulch, more than 320 historical holes have already been drilled.
